Nationwide Saviours...
I usually scoff at people who tell me they lost their debit card and had all their money robbed. Similarly I scoff at people who get their identities robbed, I dont mean to and it may happen wo me one day, despite all my preventative measures.
It was my girlfriend that had her debit card knicked and when I finished scoffing, I helped tackle the problem. Oddly, all the transactions were made in South America, we've never stepped foot in South America! My girlfriend got quite panicked by the whole ordeal and was in quite a state when we rocked up to Nationwide.
When we arrived at the bank we had possible one of the best customer service experiences I have ever been involved with. The very nice customer service assistant put an instant stop on the debit card and then took us off the floor into a private room to discuss it further. She was extremely reassuring and clearly explained everything. At the time I hadnt realized that the money would be claimed back but low and behold, two weeks later, the full amount was credited to her account. Im not sure if every bank does this but I found that just swell.
Hats off to Nationwide and Jan, evidence that customer service still exists.
